I grew up in a small town in western Pennsylvania. I knew at an early age that I wanted to taste and explore the world.
I entered a small state university to begin my undergraduate career and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in geology and minors in music and anthropology. I wasn’t quite ready to enter the real world, so I ventured off to Oregon State University where I received a Masters Degree in Oceanography for my project on climate change in the eastern equatorial Pacific.
I briefly worked at Glencoe McGraw-Hill publishing where I edited content for technology products that accompanied secondary science text books. This job planted the idea about science writing and launched me on my current path.
I moved to Washington DC in the mid-00s and had the great opportunity to write for both the Department of Energy and the Department of Agriculture. After 10 years in Washington DC, I headed west so I could dip my toes in nature. I took my skills to promote the work of scientists at the University of Utah.
After 20 years, life has come full circle. I am excited to be home in western Pennsylvania. I hope you enjoy these posts. Please reach out to me if you have interesting stories to share. Be well!
